MN Star-Tribune: Twins fail first test vs. lefties

The Twins don’t have a lefthanded batting practice pitcher, and they’re in the process of facing six lefties in a row. The first such test came Tuesday night against Ryan Rowland-Smith, who held them to two runs in seven innings, as the Mariners defeated the Twins 3-2 at Safeco Field.

Jose Lopez broke a 2-2 tie with an RBI single off Scott Baker (7-4) in the sixth inning, and the Twins dropped their fourth in a row, falling two games behind the first-place Chicago White Sox in the AL Central.

Is this extended road trip going to be the team's undoing?

Hmm, if the Twins need a batting practice lefty, the O's would be more than willing to give up Brian Burres, Garrett Olson or Jaimie Walker.

Especially Jaimie Walker.

Wow, never thought I'd see another article mention the lack of LH BP pitchers.

Is having an LH BP pitcher the new market inefficiency? Or, like closers, are LH BP pitchers overpriced and overrated?

Anyway, yet more incentive to raise your kids left-handed. Better chance of making the majors and, even if they don't, lifetime employment as an LH BP pitcher. Either way, fixed for life.
