You mean the same Kevin Burkhardt that constantly says..."He's in his walk year so you know he'll play well" and "He just signed a big contract so he's a player you HAVE to keep an eye for his play"
Plus his hair is funky.
Gary Cohen's self-righteous exasperations when the game is not played up to His Code become very tired after a while.
Cohen takes himself too seriously and moralizes too much.
El Duque getting smacked around today. He is throwing 81-83, with one at 86. His secondary stuff is looking OK but he is throwing them too much.

Carlin is pretty good. I think Schein is good, if he's the guy I'm thinking of.
Heyman is, obviously, a clown.
Of course, he is getting roughed up a little bit in his second inning.

And a lot of the hitters were faced were the scrub Cardinal players.
It was awful and I couldn't tear myself away. He certainly isn't ready now.
Seriously, as bad as Duque and Pelfrey looked today, the Mets should be considering going outside the organization for the fifth starter. Maybe someone like David Wells.
In a few years, this outing is going to stand out as either Pelfrey's lowest point or the instance when we should have realized he's never going to put it all together.
I think anyone that still considers him a "prospect" is being entirely too generous. Pelfrey has not shown any indication that he's anything but pure garbage in the majors. And a 5th grader could supply a complete scouting report on him. He needs to overhaul his entire approach and arsenal - and I've yet to hear a word from him or the Mets to indicate that they're taking this route.
He does keep the ball in the park, having give up only 7 homers in 94 IP. He doesn't need good k/bb ratios to be an average starting pitcher, 95-100 ERA+ guy and there's value in that, especially when he's cheap. But, right now, he doesn't look like he's ever going to be anything more than a back of the rotation guy.
Is Sosa stretched out enough to be the fifth starter when needed?
1) Go with Duque. Duque's shown he can be good when healthy enough to throw 86-88.
2) Go with Pelf. He's healthy but not consistently good when healthy, to say the least.
3) Go with Sosa. He's good for a 4.75 ERA.
4) Get someone else.
I think I choose Option 3 until Option 1 is health enough to throw harder.
Burkhardt is a muy young dude and I understand he has to kiss Mike & Dogs ass (didn't Dog help him get the FAN gig?)....but can he turn a computer on once in a while instead of using The Elias and Madden Sports Bureau for his info.
How the #### do you grow so young and NOT use Baseball-Ref by now...cripes, even Miquel Kay has mentioned it (of course, he gave the wrong name and info...but deep electro-boltage will do that)
Don't get me wrong...I like having him in the booth instead of the worthless dweeb in the stands bit. But let's see some Boog Sciambi-like saber-growth!
