And quite honestly, what is the "wee hours of the morning?" With the Saturday night game at 7:05 he could have come in at 5AM and still gotten ten hours of sleep easily.

Are you kidding? The newspapers love A-Rod. He's an easy story every day, no matter what he has or hasn't done. For them, it's like waking up every morning, to find that it's always Christmas.

I think this is pretty reasonable critisism actually. If the guy is too worn out to play effectivly, he should be taking it easy.

Being out with fatigue is like calling in sick, if you call in sick from work it's pretty bad if you are caught partying that same day.

ARod remains fascinating to me in his utter inability to manage his image, combined with his obvious deep desire to keep it managed. Seriously, you make sure you're getting time off to deal with fatigue, and then in the middle of the time off you go out on the town in the most visible manner possible - ie, attached to a major celebrity? I don't think that's particularly wrong - ballplayers have been partying since the beginning of time, and I don't know ARod situation well enough to speak to it - but did he seriously think he'd receive anything but this in response?

Meh, I wouldn't be surprised if "fatigue" was Girardi-speak for "needs a couple days to clear his head." A-Rod has looked out of sorts at the plate pretty much all year. He's trying to pull everything, his timing is off, and he seems to be pressing with guys on base. A night or two out on the town with some fine celebrity booty may be just the thing to get him to relax.

It should be noted that this "article" is not from the sports section, and therefore takes even more liberties because it can claim ignorance to certain facts.

First, the Friday night game ended after 10 PM. It's unlikely he left the park before 11 PM. So had he gone anywhere after the game, even to play canasta with his mother, he'd be out in the "wee hours." There's no evidence he was out for more than 3 hours max, which I'm sure almost all his teammates were as well. And if he went home after he was spotted leaving at 2:30, he could have been sleeping by 3:30 and gotten plenty of sleep, as #3 noted above. Also, it was decided ahead of time that A-Rod would not start Friday or Saturday. This article makes it sound like he was benched Saturday because he was tired from Friday night's shenanigans. Ridiculous.
