I don't necessarily agree with it as a business model, but the Yankees are heavily invested in presenting to the public a hyper-professional image. To their fans they're No Nonsense Hard Workers That Play The Game The Right Way; to their unfans they're horrendously boring preprogrammed robots. Anyway, obviously the Yankees are going to protect that image, and their players interacting directly with the public has the potential to be disastrous to that.
One guy who should cut back is Girardi. Weekly Q & A with Fatso and Fruitloops, his own YES show and I think he does something weekly with Danny Aiello's nephew.
Yes; we'll not hear a peep out of him.
Dammit. I wish I would have thought of that one.
The Yankees are idiots. They clearly don't know what they are doing despite being the biggest revenue team in baseball.
If so, and I think the facts are contra, this meaningless prohibition hardly demonstrates that.
Agree and disagree. Agree this prohibition doesn't demonstrate this. I disagree that this prohibition is meaningless. I would say robbing your fan base of unfiltered comments from your players is a large prohibition.
They did trade away Jay Buhner for Ken Phelps.
