From cot's:
So Graziano seems to be correct, as the Mets are paying Delgado $12m and the Marlins $4m this year. And he's also correct (as any sane man would be) to assume the Mets would give Delgado the $4m buyout and kick him to the curb. Which leads me to wonder, was Delgado's agent drunk, under the infuence of prescription medication, or just plain stupid when he wrote Graziano?
Which makes him no less insane, but insane people think things too . . .
Thank for inserting that comma...I didn't know what the heck he was trying to say and the comma didn't occur to me. I half-expected his last answer to be "all your baseball are belong to us" or something.
So's your mom.
Sincerely,
David
All I can think is that he believes that acknowledging the existence of the buyout is some sort of slight on behalf of his client.
I think he was upset more about the idea of his client being paid 'only" 12 mil this year and not 16.
Everything the reporter wrote was true of course - the Mets are only paying Delgado 12 and for the Mets and their fans that is what matters - but one could read that as Delgado's total 08 salary being 12 mil
I see this as having a long shelf life here at BTF.
next post:
Shelf life this retard.
Buzzard Bissinger just took a man-sized St. Looie toodle-oo ####!
Exactly. But I wouldn't be surprised if he tries to say it was off the record.
Highly doubtful the Mets bring him back even for an 8m net cost. His bat has looked a lot better the past couple of weeks (guy’s got to be the scariest #7 hitter in the league), but he must have left his glove in Puerto Rico.
And yeah, Sloane's nuts.
What else could he really say? I suppose he could mention that I was either accidently on/off his meds or planning to check into rehab. When you've said/done something really dumb in public, it seems like there's a pretty standard playbook.
Well, he could accuse him of making it up.
With a little luck, this phrase could become the next "Don't tase me bro."
I've always loved that excuse. It's like a murderer saying, "I wouldn't have done it if I thought you'd catch me".
If you're "off the record" it's OK to be an ass-hat?
Oh, and the 2009 12m option is a club option. Cot’s had it worded strangely.
One poster from Oregon claims that Delgado has been "Cadillacking" since 2006. Another poster from the East Coast objects because he believes that term to mean "showboating" and cites Delgado's refusal to give a curtain call after homering as evidence that Delgado is not "Cadillacking." The Oregon poster responds by saying that he considers "Cadillacking" to mean just perfunctorily showing up rather than exerting real effort.
Purely as a sociological exercise, I find it interesting when one person's status symbol is rejected as inferior by another...
Maybe most agents are like this.
So this guy, who seems to be a moron, probably made around $5.2 million on the Delgado contract. And Delgado may be his only client.
How does someone get that gig?
Ummm ... just how long have you "accidentally" been taking/not taking this poor man's meds, anyway?
Remember, the comma's mine, much like the extra beat in "Ice Ice Baby" that made it exclusively the property of Vanilla Ice (at least according to him).
I believe pro sports agents make something like 3% commission, not 10%.
Still too much for this retard.
Hey, you have to ditch/move the comma so it's punctuated like Sloane's:
“Apologize this retard, he’s making 16 this year WITH an option for next year @ 16 or a buyout @
(punctuate this retard)
That's a little too much knowledge of the opi of Vanilla Ice for my taste. :)
EDIT: Let me retract a bit. The plural of opus is either opuses or opera, according to Dictionary.com.
“Apologize, this retard he’s making 16 this year WITH an option for next year..."
So now we have "Apologize" as the imperative to the author. Then "this retard" and "he" would be the same person (Delgado).
Surely then, someone must use one of Roger's "misremembered" lines as an alias as well.
I often wonder if I'm one of the few that has kept his alias here....well, except for my brief attempt to post as "Byung Hyun Kim-wannabe" or something like that when I first got here.
The plural of "opus" is "opera". It's a neutral declension instead of masculine.
See, it even makes sense intuitively!
So's your mom.
There is only one Opus, and he is a penguin.
So's your mom.
It really is an all-purpose phrase!
And so's your mom.
So's your mom.
Why was it appropriate though? What purpose does it show other than to try to publicly embarrass someone and if that is the purpose, how is that legitimate or appropriate?
I realize people on chat boards like to write mean-spirited things back and forth to each other. That does not make the behavior acceptable.
Likewise, stercus, stercora, I see. The only "dirty" word I know in Latin I learned from my kids. Since they are both home for a short spell, I'll have to see if they remember the proper declension tonight at dinner.
Using nanny-bypass terminology, stercus is shiite, for those who care.
You're a copycat, and someone else in your family is, too.
I set 'em up, you guys knock 'em down.
The only Latin I know is Semper Ubi Sububi.
I've been bunyon from my first post on Primer. However, I might change to "Guywithachainsawwannabe". :)
I often wonder if I'm one of the few that has kept his alias here....well, except for my brief attempt to post as "Byung Hyun Kim-wannabe" or something like that when I first got here.
I've been "Dan Szymborski" for 3 decades.
Hail Caesar. Now, write it out a hundred times. If it's not done by sunrise, I'll cut your balls off.
Utter idiots should be exposed as such when possible. They don't all make their imbecility abundantly clear by giving press conferences at the White House, you know.
I didn't know Gloria was sick.
Thank you, I'll be here all week.
Thus: weeny, weedy, weeky
The more distance I have from that the more wrong that sounds. But my Latin teach probably knew better than I do.
I've always kept my "real" name (Esoteric) in one form or another. So I feel it's honest.
Well said. As someone with a Down syndrome sister, I tend to wince at that noun & never use it.
EDIT: Okay, changed to one of my favorite Tom Waits references. Happy now?
So's your mom.
(Sorry, but I really wanted that HOTW Pt 1 joke for my own. I was only 40 minutes late for it. Gah.)
He came and spoke at our school this year as part of our "Springfest" week (the theme of which was "when we were kids." So no, to clarify, my school does not find educational value in the speaking presence of Vanilla Ice. Simply entertainment) and admitted that whole schpiel was just an attempt to not get sued. I think the way he put it was, "Of course I didn't think it was any different. I was just trying to not get sued. I mean are you kidding me? Of course I copied it."
Well, I was "Dildo the Hobbit" for about 5 minutes when I first registered, but then realised it really wasn't that funny anymore (well, it was when I was 12, I guess).
So I chose to honor my favorite player whan I was a boy. I like the ironie of using Tim's name on this site too, because he's no sabermetrician's dream...
Little known fact: the 30-year-old Primer Szym speaks of involved him and Furtado exchanging post cards, debating the relative strengths of Ken Singleton and Dwight Evans, and how they both were more productive than Reggie Jackson.
Shun that man! I was so happy when I asked my son what time he got home from the post-prom on Sunday morning, he said "The sky was the color of pepto-bismol".
gef, as much as I love Waits, I can easily see how anyone's mileage would vary. I revoke the call for a shunning.
I have been tempted to correct the lack of an apostophre for the possessive form. It's supposed to be Harvey's Wallbangers.
But I decided to keep it as a reminder of the evils of haste.
Aside from when I've posted as Backlasher, Randal, Admiral Ackbar, RossyCW, and Dan Szymborski, I've always posted under my own name.
So's your mom.
You forgot tina, Mike Piazza, and the Bearded Wizard.
Wow, I'm the 75th comment and not one reference to So Taguchi?
So's your mom.
That's perfectly OK, Edmundo. I'm a major fan of The Fall's Mark E Smith, who's definitely an, ummm, acquired taste, too.
So's your mom.

He still posts very occasionally.
Your teacher was teaching you Classical Latin. In Ecclesiastical Latin a "c" sometimes takes on the "ch" sound and "v's" are always vees.
One of my favorite signs outside of a strip club: Vini, Vidi, Vini.
LOL.
Then isn't it about time to give some else a turn?
That's what she said.
Words of wisdom, those.
Is that even legal?
My kids, who were taught Classical Latin, tease me about my Ecclesiastical Latin.
Um, no, I don't remember such a ####-storm at all. Perhaps you could provide some links.
Of course, unless Graziano was actually one of said media horde decrying the blogger's actions, he isn't actually being a hypocrite here.
...but isn't there at least a chance that this isn't actually David Sloane?
So's your mom.
And Your Mom.
