NL Central race: September 4, 2008

MLB.com: Brewers suffer fourth straight loss

After an awesome August, the Brewers are sputtering in September. They have dropped four in a row to start the final month, including Thursday’s 5-2 loss to the last-place Padres at Miller Park that cost the Brewers an opportunity to gain a half-game on the National League Central-leading Cubs, who were idle.

CHC 85-55 [lost 5 straight]
MIL 80-60 (5 GB; lead wildcard by 4) [lost 4 straight]

The Padres can kiss my behind. They act tough against everyone else but the Dodgers.

They musta played the Dodgers a lot this year.

Ah, so this is the NL Central we all expected to see at the beginning of the year.

The Central has the 2 best teams in the NL, and I think that's kinda what people expected at the beginning of the year.

3: The Cubs are who we thought they were. You want to crown them, crown their a$$. But the Cubs are who we thought they were.

I don't think the Brewers are better than the Mets. Also, I think most people thought the Mets would be right there with the Cubs and Brewers before the season started.

Nothing like a few wins to wake up the braggadocio in a Mets fan

I seem to remember that Diamondback fans were quite full of themselves during April.

Right now, I think a healthy Cubs team is the only NL team without flaws so saying the Mets are the second best team in the NL is not exactly saying much. They aren't even a lock for the playoffs. A healthy Cub team is the only NL team without serious flaws.

And now it seems that we're about as likely to see a healthy Cub team in October as we are to see C.C. Sabathia re-sign with the Brewers.

So full of themselves, in fact, that they were offering bets on BTF...

Don't look now, but after sweeping the Cubs... the Astros are 6 games back of the Wild Card.
