MLB.com: Pedro shines, Mets rally over Marlins All was quiet. And this time, the Mets’ bullpen caved but did not crack, helping buoy the team to a 6-2 victory and a series win over the Marlins on Sunday afternoon… Martinez allowed just the two runs on seven hits, striking out four and walking one.
MLB.com: Another big day by Werth boosts Phils Considering how this four-game series started, with two late-inning leads blown to the team with the best record in baseball, the Phillies will happily take a split. The Phils earned that on the strength of another strong offensive performance from Springfield, Ill., native Jayson Werth, who clubbed a homer and drove in three runs, and a feisty pitching effort from ageless Jamie Moyer in Sunday’s 5-3 win over the Cubs at Wrigley Field.
NYM 76-61
PHI 75-62 (1 GB; 5.5 GB of the wildcard)

Neither do I -- since the Mets have the Brew Crew, while the Phillies have tne Nats. So even if we do well against the Phillies, there's a good chance that series will start with the Phillies having made up ground.
Taking the longer view (cross-posted from the end of today's chatter) as we end August:
September Schedule Comparsion
Mets
at Milwaukee (3)
v. Philly (3)
v. Washington (2)

Slight edge, Mets. Two more home games. The head-to-head series is at Shea. We have that tough four-game set with the Cubs, but there is an excellent chance they will have clinched by then and have a lot less to play for (perhaps nothing at all). The schedule isn't likely to decide it, obviously, but if either team has an edge there, it's the Mets.
