Well, if you're gonna put the Marlins in there, NTN, you've got to put the 'Stros in, too. They have the same record.

Don't forget the Fighting Ed Wades, NTNgod; they're tied with the Fish.

If the Pirates can finish hot with a 5-3 finish, every team in the Central will finish this season with a better record than they did last year.

Something tells me the Brewers won't be celebrating that feat...

David Hill and Fox's biggest nightmare is no longer a Rays-Brewers World Series. It's a Rays-Marlins WS.

The Rays have a good story behind them. How about Twins-Marlins?

#6. The Rays have the smallest following in baseball with the Marlins right behind them. Fox would be petrified of that outcome. No, Fox would actually like having the Rays if they get to play a big draw team like LA/Cubs/Mets but if they played against the Marlins they would be playing in two empty stadiums with no one watching.
Twins would at least be a little better as they would get a decent rating from the Mid-West to sell some Ford trucks to.

Not to mention Rays-Marlins gives you 2 teams playing in the same state.
Maybe the historically low ratings to follow would be the impetus for divisional/league realignment. Put the Rays and the Marlins in a Southeast Division (with Atlanta, Washington, Philly, and Baltimore), and there's no chance they'll ever meet in the Series again.

How about this setup?
BASEBALL EAST
Northeast: Boston, N.Y. Mets, N.Y. Yankees, Philadelphia, Toronto Southeast: Atlanta, Baltimore, Florida, Tampa Bay, Washington Central: Cincinnati, Cleveland, Detroit, Pittsburgh
BASEBALL WEST
Midwest: Chi. Cubs, Chi. White Sox, Kansas City, Milwaukee, St. Louis Continental: Arizona, Colorado, Houston, Minnesota, Texas Pacific: L.A. Angels, L.A. Dodgers, Oakland, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle
This puts all the Eastern teams in the same "league" (better for television). And the only division that's sort of iffy geographically is the Continental (so named for the Continental Divide, not Branch Rickey's stillborn league).
Northeast: Boston, N.Y. Mets, N.Y. Yankees, Philadelphia, Toronto

What do you have against Canadians? Going against the biggest two payrolls isn't enough, they had to go against the top three?
If it makes you happy, we can place Toronto in the Central division with Cincinnati, Cleveland, Detroit and Pittsburgh (and maybe rename it the "Great Lakes"). The shift would at least revive the Jays' rivalries with the Tigers and Indians. It would also leave the Northeast as the four-team grouping, allowing for even more Yanks-Bosox, Yanks-Mets and Mets-Phillies games. Let the wars begin!
