Nolasco, Marlins no-hit Tigers

Starter Ricky Nolasco not only continued his hot Spring Training, he no-hit the Tigers for seven frames while holding them to the minimum 21 batters. Both of Detroit’s baserunners were erased on double plays. Dan Meyer pitched a scoreless eighth to continue the effort and allow Leo Nunez to finish it off.

Even in Spring Training, it has to SUCK being no-hit.

Shouldn't that be "especially in Spring Training, it has to SUCK being no-hit," what with pitchers being behind the batters and all? Or have they caught up by now?

I will venture that it sucks considerably less to be no-hit in Spring Training, since the results don't matter.

I am more surprised that Dan Meyer pitched one inning without giving up a hit than I am that Nolasco pitched seven of them.

This is not going to help my plan to trade for Nolasco in the pre-season.

If Jeremy's out there, and I know he is:

Let's do the bet over again. I had Nolasco get injured in 2007 so it voided because of IP. If we had just rolled it forward to last year, I would have been a runaway winner. I hereby challenge you, Wonder Boy!

Nolasco. Maine. ERA+. $100. 75 IP floor to qualify.

I'm so very thrilled we got a season of league leader in outs Juan Pierre for Nolasco.

Nolasco has been called a sleeper by so many fantasy baseball analysts that he is most certainly overrated by anyone who follows those things by now.

You have to remember, though, Florida threw in some other players as well, so the deal could still be OK for the Cu... Wait, *we* threw in other players? Oh yeah, that's right. ####### Pierre.

Juan Pierre. Wrecking multiple teams whenever he goes.

Back up the truck, suckah. Nolasco ain't no TARP.

edit: I LOVE my fantasy team. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Yeah, Jeff, I heard you called me out in IRC the other night (even though I've fully admitted that you would have crushed me had we rolled it over to last year).

Man, was the original bet really for $100? Whatever, let's roll ############!

Speaking of Maine, how worried should we be about him? He's getting smacked around. He was outstanding in spring training last year so maybe it doesn't mean anything. I am not that worried about the results but I am wondering how healthy he is.

I know someone keeps track of these things for whatever reason, so you can go ahead and book it.

Jeff K. - Nolasco
Jeremy H. - Maine

Higher ERA+ for season, 75 IP from each pitcher required for bet to qualify, $100.

We can consider this the rubber match of a best 2 of 3 seasons, really.

Anibal Sanchez retired the first 14 batters yesterday, the next inning didn't go so well though.

It's just Ricky being Ricky.
