OC Register: Attack on agent Boras’ vehicle is just wrong

Attorney-bashing is almost an American birthright, but this is taking it too far.

Police said uber-agent Scott Boras’  Land Rover received $2,000 in damage when it was vandalized outside the Bandera Restaurant in Corona del Mar on Monday evening.

According to the coronadelmartoday.com report, it seems Boras was inside the restaurant at the time — which makes this attack cowardly, as well as senseless. I am just glad it was only his windows that were damaged.

All kinds of flip lines occur to me — where was Arte Moreno between 9:15-10:10 p.m., for example — but really, vandalism isn’t funny (not that I have ever had a car anyone would give a second look to, let alone strike with a baseball bat).

He probably has $2,000 in the change cup of the Land Rover. Not to mention insurance. Vandals should be billy-clubbed and pepper-sprayed but Boras will be OK.

Does his car have "THIS IS SCOTT BORAS'S CAR" written on the side of it?

#2-Boras' tags are a dead give-away:

My guess is the intent of the attack was to harm the car, not the agent. Some people really don't like Land Rovers.

I just got my new car out of the body shop because someone keyed it. And it cost $1,500. I can't believe he only had $2,000 of damage, unless they did something fairly minor. And yes, my opinion of vandals matches that of #1.

Doesn't sound like it's really even been determined the vandal knew it was Boras' car.
   7. Gamingboy Posted: July 04, 2009 at 02:08 PM (#3242053)
Scott Boras has a car? I mean, I'm not surprised he has a car, but I wouldn't have thought he'd use it. I mean, did his Demonic Horse get Barabaro'd? Black Helicopter run out of gas? Did his flying Broom break? Is his Martian War Machine missing a leg?
   8. twon8 Posted: July 04, 2009 at 02:58 PM (#3242068)
It was a crime of passion.

Only Boras has a "Honk to bid 4/60 for Johnny Damon" bumper sticker.

Hummers, Land Rovers. Don't most folks want to take a bat to them?

What does this even mean? Is it not cowardly to attack the vehicle if Boras is in it?
   12. ...even Chuck Norris was afraid of Jim Rice Posted: July 04, 2009 at 04:49 PM (#3242128)
The author has neglected to mention that the vandalism occurred during a protracted four hour negotiation over the price of an appetizer, during which time Boras insisted that a mystery restaurant was offering a comparable package of h'orderves at a lower price.

No, it is legal to own such vehicles. It is not legal to vandalize them.

I pay more for gas because of the idiots who own these things.

Boras may be in pretty good shape, due to the fact that Souls are high in vitamins and minerals (and some souls are actually steroids!), so it would not be cowardly but suicidal to attack the vehicle if Boras was in it.

huh? taking a bat to something or someone isn't legal no matter what, it doesn't take the feeling of wanting to do that whether it is legal or not.

of course there is no way that anyone has the full story, not saying that vandalism is justified, but is boras one of these self important a-holes who think their car deserves two spots? did he flip a guy off or whatever? I seriously doubt that the vandalism had anything to do with it being Scott Boras the super agent, but probably Soctt Boras the ass or something similar to that.

I think every Land Rover comes standard with a "I Brake for Brian Sabean" decal.

I have a soft spot for Land Rovers, having been driven through the Masai Mara with my wife in one back in '94 during our honeymoon. Great vehicles.

Primey for No. 12.

Srul, somehow I've missed the packs of Wildebeests running wild through Orange County, making it absolutely necessary to follow in a Land Rover driven by a retired British Army-type born in Tanganyka named Nigel.
   20. Srul Itza Posted: July 04, 2009 at 07:22 PM (#3242235)
He wasn't named Nigel.

And Land Rovers have a long history as utility and work-type vehicles. Just because Orange County is full of posers is no reason to denigrate a vehicle with as long and illustrious a history as the Land Rover.

I am glad to see reporters taking bold stands in the name of justice.
   22. JRVJ (formerly Delta Socrates) Posted: July 04, 2009 at 07:55 PM (#3242261)
I'm not denigrating Land Rover's. If anything, I'm denigrating Orange County Land Rover types who use the car to drive to the Supermarket and back.

This is a threadjacking: HOLY ####### #### FORMER NFL QB STEVE MCNAIR FOUND DEAD IN APPARENT MURDER-SUICIDE! HOLY ####### ####! THIS ####### SUCKS!

(I was gonna talk about how Boras' land rover occasionally is stopped by lone pro-democracy protesters, but why say that when, well, yeah.)
   25. Steve Balboni's Personal Trainer Posted: July 04, 2009 at 09:46 PM (#3242315)
It does strike me as very odd that somevody would:

1) identify a vehicle as Boras's;
2) Have strong enough views against Boras that they would want to vandalize his car;
3) actually do it.

I agree with those who are saying that it probably was somebody mad about getting a parking spot stolen, and that guy happened to be Boras.

Boras's bumper sticker? "Honk for more guaranteed money"

Listen, if this bunch of political jackals could not generate a thread about Palin's bizarre resignation, then McNair is totally out of luck.
   27. yb125 Posted: July 05, 2009 at 02:00 AM (#3242372)
Yeah unless there is some evidence that this was target at Boras not just one of many cars that get Vandalized without the owner being a consideration.

No, but some (not I) would consider it sensible.

taking a bat to something. . . isn't legal no matter what
You're advising Rick Ankiel, right?
   29. Gonfalon Bubble Posted: July 06, 2009 at 05:39 AM (#3243072)
Boras told reporters, "Aw, man. It'd been worth him doing it just so I could've caught him doing it." Then he danced the Bat-usi to Chuck Berry.

Maybe I overgeneralized and need to have a talk with that kid (although right now my advice would be to TLR and just to bench his non-fielding, head case ass right now)
   31. Tripon Posted: July 06, 2009 at 05:54 AM (#3243074)
Maybe rick Ankiel can switch back to pitching.
