Ain’t no use joking
Everything is broken
According to eyewitnesses in the Capitol, the ball smashed into the dome at about 3:35 p.m., tore through the Apotheosis Of Washington—a 150-year-old, 4,664-square-foot fresco painted on the inside of the rotunda—and broke the arm off of a National Statuary Hall sculpture of William Jennings Bryan. The ball then bounced into the Senate Chamber, where it interrupted a vote on a $542.5 billion defense authorization bill, and landed directly in the mashed potatoes of early-dinging Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), covering him with gravy and prompting him to exclaim, “Zimmer-maaaaannnn!”
Although McConnell had no evidence at the time that Zimmerman was responsible for the damages, he was the chief suspect, as he is the only National able to hit the ball farther than 300 feet.

Early-dinging?
I am old enough to remember when the Onion was funny.
Sure, but this wasn't humorous.
So is a newborn baby.
Sure, but this wasn't humorous.
Yes it is.
Is this a primary or a caucus?
...oh wait, that was espn.com, not the onion
Marx. Not funny.
This one from 2002 remains my favourite, even though it's only somewhat baseball-related. IIRC, a newspaper in China picked it up thinking it was a real story.
Come on: "Kenny Lofton Thinks He's Putting Finishing Touches on Hall of Fame Career"? "Dodgers' Playoff Hopes Dashed Following Acquisition Of Belly Itcher"? Oh, and "The Simpsons" is still funny, too. Even if this week's episode isn't quite the equal of the combined fan memories of every great "Simpsons" moment of the first ten years.
Every one of those is funny (except possibly the Lidle, which is mostly just tasteless), but usually that's the only funny thing, the headline.
In the linked article, the headline is not funny. The line about Zimmerman was O.K. but would've been better if it rang true (someone pointed out Pena, I have Milledge and Nick Johnson). And, for example, if hitting the ball 300 feet is some kind of benchmark, the ability to throw 15,000 feet would be a big deal. It's just sloppy, inconsistent.
