Considering the Mets are probably going to start Nelson Figueroa on Tuesday, I think Pavano might be able to help them. If the Yankees don't want much for him and are willing to eat the buyout, I'd considering trading for him.

Not much point in giving him away and eating the buyout if they're not getting anything in return.
They certainly won't ask for a real prospect, but they'd definitely want someone who can make the majors as a part-time player down the road.

That's reasonable to me although the fact that Pavano is pitching today means that he won't be available to pitch Tuesday.
