Palm Beach Post: Nolasco stifles Phillies; three home runs help Marlins regain first place

The Marlins obviously didn’t like being in second place very much - they didn’t spend very long there.

Ricky Nolasco was able to do something Saturday that nobody has for a week: cool off the Philadelphia Phillies’ blistering offense. Nolasco pitched the Marlins back into first place in the National League East with a 7-3 victory at Citizens Bank Park, limiting the league’s hottest team to two runs on four hits in 62/3 innings.

Nolasco (5-3) was backed by a three home runs, including Luis Gonzalez’s 350th of his career. Nolasco did not allow a hit after Shane Victorino’s double to lead off the third inning.

“Enough about the offense,” said Cody Ross, who hit his 10th home run of the season. “I want to talk about what Ricky did. When we needed a huge outing from him, to do that in this ballpark, it speaks volumes.”
