Papi’s shoulder looks good - Boston Red Sox - BostonHerald.com

Readers’ ideas are welcome .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) on how to fix the design flaw on the left field wall before instant replay of some variety is instituted.

Options include angling the top of the wall enough so that any ball that hits there will deflect back in an impossible-to-miss angle, or using a softer material for the screen so that the ball bounces off it in a different way as well.

Two other possible options:
1) 240 feet of six-inch high, soft, spongy foam backed by the telescoping fisherman’s net wielding Green Monster brigade.
2) Accept these things will happen from time to time.

If you have a better idea, remember to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

How about a goddam normal left field fence?

How about getting umpires who understand rudimentary physics? That was an impossible-to-miss angle!

I blame the non-home run on JD Drew, because his girly rep made people think he wasn't capable of hitting an opposite field 3-run home run.

You think any ump would DARE take that dinger away from Papi?

Painting the shelf and back part of the wall something other than green would probably help. There's only a red line, and unless it hits right on the line, the ball seems to get lost in the sea of green, at least at full speed even if you can tell in slow-motion replay.

Any ball that reaches or exceeds the Monstah is a ground-rule double.

Of course, if there weren't Monster seats, wouldn't that ball have bounced off the top of the wall and settled in the net?
