Baseball Primer Newsblog — The Best News Links from the Baseball Newsstand Sunday, June 22, 2008PPG: Kovacevic: Snell’s Elbow to be Examined
And after that contract (which I still think is NOT comparable to Adam Wainwright’s)! The oddity if the attendance of 22,983. It was Italian Day at the ballpark, Sunday afternoon interleague game, the Pirates going for the sweep against Toronto after two pretty good games. Rain in the forecast probably kept some people home, and they average under 8,600/game for the season, so maybe I should be happy with the turnout. But, really, is the occaisonal sellout/near-sellout too much to ask for? We’ll see Tuesday-Thursday with the Yankees in town. Sidd [bleeping] Finch (SuperBaes)

So, did any Italians play in the game for either team?
Just looking at the statlines, this surprises me. 129/50 K:BB in 156IP at AAA before his callup? AA had a better K rate (but not stellar), but a worse BB rate. I dunno - I'm not sure injuries are what derailed him.
TAGLINE: Pittsburgh residents pretty much agree, love Looneys.
