I just want to ask Mariner fans what they think of Bloomquist becoming half of a right field platoon and to exhort them to stay away from sharp objects and ledges.

Bloomquist is part of a RF platoon? It's like McLaren is trying to make look smart for crapping all over the Mariners all winter.

Somebody told McClaren that Bloomquist was one of the worst backup OFers in the major leagues. Problem solved.

Rickie Weeks is batting .186 with an OPS of .700.

And yet he is second in the NL in runs scored with 19.

Last season he scored 87 runs in 409 at bats and 96 hits.

If Weeks ever gets his BA around .250 over 600 plate appearances he will lead the league in runs scored.

Update:

Just scored his 20th run.

Mark Difelice made his season debut for Nashville last night, having been delayed by offseason microfracture surgery. Limited to 75 pitches, he went 6 innings, allowing a run on 3 hits, walking no one, and striking out 11. He's an interesting player - he was an blah-stuff, good-control organizational soldier for years before learning a cutter under Sparky Lyle in the indy ranks and having a tremendous year in '07 (10-3 2.31, 123 k / 15 bb in 124.1 ip between AA and AAA). Lacking velocity (topped out at 84 last night, though that's low even for him), I'm not sure he'd sustain success in the bigs, but he'll deserve a chance to find out if he keeps pitching like this.
