I thought the Speed numbers for the home runs hit was interesting - the ball left Tex's bat at 104, and Matsui's at 76.
If the Yankees had lost last night A-Rod would probably be back to square 1.
Yeah, one was a 420' shot and the other was a 320' fly ball. It's been a long, long time since I had physics but the ratio doesn't look ridiculous.
A-Rod wasn't getting bashed just for hitting poorly, it was for hitting popups or striking out with a runner on third and nobody out, and for hitting into double plays.
The who lineup had trouble in Game One, and Pedro handled everyone pretty well for the most part yesterday.
There's one in Raissman's own paper this morning. Of course, he can be excused for not wanting to read the Daily News.
Lee has always been tough on Entwistle!
What had a solid game.
Pete Townsend just falls apart in the clutch when he can't hear the crowd cheering him on.
Good enough for second.
Unless you happen to know that the fence at the spot where Matsui's homer crossed over into the seats is 327 feet from home plate. Then calling his homer 320 feet does look ridiculous...
I don't know.
THIRD BASE!
That's not Edmundo's fault. Fox had a box up saying that Matsui's homer traveled 320 feet. Maybe they know something that we don't.
How do you think he does it? What makes him so good?
he fights for his meals
I'm not sure that there's anything Fox knows that we don't.
Right, I'm not criticizing Edmundo, just the number, which is demonstrably wrong. However, the 414 foot estimate for Teixeira's homer matched my number (415), so they were 1 for 2...
Gator92 is hittracker.
Which these days...is pretty much all the time.
This is actually not true. Apparently they're using the Trackman radar system - the speed numbers are similar to but not identical to the Pitch F/X numbers. (Now as to why Fox feels the need for two real-time pitch tracking systems is beyond me...) Pitch F/X is still being used to provide the pitch locations for the ball/strike box that annoys everyone.
Trackman is also being used to provide the home run distances. I don't know why they would have gotten the Matsui home run wrong.
I never realized Jeter had a fanatical devotion to the Pope.
I don't know
Three...Jeter bunting with three strikes is kinda like the Spanish Inquisition
I posted this in the chatter last night...but McCarver surprised is my favorite McCarver. He always makes some kind of surprised noise so that we know that he understands that he was wrong. It's hilarious.
No one ever expects it?
Mine too.
Buck beaten senseless wouldn't bug me either.
You forgot his well-burnished sword, if you know what I mean.
