This is true. He's throwing more split fingers than ever before. But his velocity was better with the Yankees then it is now. At least in 2005. Per his Fan Graphs Page his avg FB velocity is down 1.6 MPH since 2005. He pitched almost all of 2006 with a herniated disc. I don't know how you even pitch with that, let alone "adapt"
His slider has looked great the last couple of games.

FWIW, he has a complete no-trade clause. He probably wouldn't waive it without getting a contract extension (he is signed through 2009) in return.
