The Tampa Bay Rays have re-signed outfielder Gabe Kapler to a one-year major league contract, the team announced Tuesday.
Kapler, 34, appeared in 99 games at all three outfield positions for the Rays in 2009, hitting .239 with eight home runs, 32 RBI, 15 doubles and five stolen bases.

I think I'd put him as no better than third in depth at that position on that team. Maybe fourth.
Nobody was as surprised as I was when Kapler played well for the Brewers in 2008 but he followed it up with another good year with Tampa Bay. Eventually he'll go back to being terrible like he was for the Red Sox but he's been worth well over $1 million each of the past 2 years.

Yeah, I suspect he signed it within minutes of it coming off his agent's fax machine, before the Rays could change their minds.
