Reimold’s HR rallies Orioles past Jays 12-10 in 11

Nolan Reimold hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the 11th inning to cap a second surprising comeback by the Baltimore Orioles, who beat Toronto 12-10 Wednesday to extend the Blue Jays’ losing streak to nine games.

As Bob Prince was so fond of reminding us Bucco fans after sqeeking out an unlikely win; "we had'em all the way!"

The Jays are now on a pace to win fewer than 90 games.

I meant no comment up there...

And Matt Wieters wasn't even with the Orioles yet!

I'm glad I'm not a Jays fan. I'd be...well, I don't know what I'd be. But it wouldn't be fun for myself or anyone keeping my company.

So, pretty much business as usual.

As a Jays fan, leading the division didn't feel real. None of it felt real:

Marco Scutaro being #2 in voting for shortstop at the all star game?
Aaron Hill playing at an all star level?
Travis Snider being outhit by Rod Barajas, Kevin Millar, and Jose Bautista?
The cast of thousands (including Brian Tallet) holding down the fort in the rotation?
Jason Frasor being the best pitcher in the bullpen?
Being in first place in mid-May while Rios and Wells performing at a below-average level?

None of this seems like it should've been possible. With all that happening, losing 9 in a row in horrific fashion, with everything possible going wrong at the same moment, this seems reasonable. Right, even. Once again, the Blue Jays are in third, and they're here to stay (well, maybe fourth. Or fifth.) So it's like finally things are starting to make sense in the world again. Welcome home, boys, welcome home.

Boy, I left myself wide-open for that one, didn't I?

Come to think of it, I shouldn't let the opportunity pass without linking the following series of images that were posted at Lookout Landing during an August 2007 series against Anaheim:

There was game one, game two, and game three.

Yeah, that's the kind of week it's been.

I like that I got to read about that on another website before I saw it here.

What's Reimold's ZIPS for the rest of the year?

Glass-half-full outlook:
Even after a 9 game losing streak, the Jays are only 1.5 games out of 1st place (and the wild card)!

Alternate Glass-half-full outlook:
They can't possibly lose tomorrow.

I wouldn't be so sure about that.

(And, yes, I know it's an off-day.)

Just watched some highlights from the game, and I have to ask, Why in the world are the Jays outfielders playing 5 feet from the warning track? It was ridiculous the balls that were falling in, landing exactly where a normal outfielder should have been positioned.

Part of me is glad that Mr Brittain didn't have to see that.

But another part of me is sad that I don't get to read his recap of it.

Wieters got called up tomorrow and reached back in time to alter the outcome of yesterday's game.
