The Blackhawks are expected to play the Detroit Red Wings at Wrigley Field in January in the NHL’s Winter Classic, Comcast SportsNet reported Wednesday night, with an official announcement perhaps coming this week.
Hawks president John McDonough has been pushing for an outdoor game after the success of this season’s Winter Classic on New Year’s Day at Buffalo’s Ralph Wilson Stadium. A league-record 71,217 fans saw the Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Sabres 2-1 in a shootout.

I think its Chicago or bust... there were some infrastructure issues with building a rink in Yankee Stadium apparently.
There are rumors of a Bobby Orr jersey buried there somewhere.
Ho, and there won't be a game next year at Yankee Stadium because the NHL wants to keep it one game a year only.
Next year, the Montréal Canadiens will celebrate their 100th birthday and the team wanted to play outside but the NHL did not want. Now, one of the problem might have been that there are NO stadium in Montreal to play an outside game into... The Big "O" has a roof and is closed during the winter anyway, and Molson Stadium (home of the CFL Alouettes) seems a little small for such an event.
Ironically, this will be only my second game at Wrigley, the first being this one. (Met Bill James there, too.)
