Here’s the announcement from the Mets ...
The New York Mets today announced plans to expand the presence of club history at Citi Field next season in a variety of ways including renaming areas of the ballpark after Casey Stengel, Gil Hodges, Tom Seaver and William A. Shea. The
Mets also have re-formed the Mets Hall of Fame Committee, and will increase the number of visuals commemorating great players and moments both inside and outside the ballpark. The Mets previously announced a 2010 opening of the Mets Hall of Fame & Museum at Citi Field.
RENAMING OF AREAS IN BALLPARK
The Mets will rename and visually theme Citi Field’s VIP entrances and outfield bridge after individuals who made an indelible mark on the club. First Base VIP will be named after Hodges to honor the manager who led the Mets to their first World Championship in 1969. Third Base VIP will honor Seaver, the Hall of Fame pitcher and Mets leader in wins, earned run average and strikeouts. Left Field VIP will be named after Stengel, the first manager in Mets history. The outfield bridge will be dedicated as Shea Bridge, honoring the legacy of the man who was the driving force to bring National League baseball back to New York after the departure of the Dodgers and Giants.
Omar Minaya announced that the lobby of the Mets front office will be named after Adam Rubin.

Hey, now, Casey played for the Jints too.
Word is that the mezannine level men's room will be named after Danny Gardella...
And I just want to stick this in. The Yorks are the Wilpons of the NFL. A team that looked like it could win 10 is playing F'ing Alex F'ing Smith every week because of two reasons that have nothing to do with winning. First he throws a "pretty ball". Just ask the DBs who catch a lot of them. And the other, they have to play him because they're paying him so much money. Even the friggin Raiders have figured out if the QB sucks, you bench him. Before we go 4-12, FREE SHAWN HILL!!!!!!!!!!!
Smith has had flashes this year and I don't mind spending the rest of the season finding out whether or not he is going to take a step forward.
I feel better about the long-term prospects of the 49ers right now than I have in years.
*boggle*
I predicted (in about 1996) that the Mets would build a retro park at exactly the time when everyone in America was getting tired of retroparks. "
It isn't a retropark. Good prediction though.
He has lobby for curator job, OK?
Besides having a brick facade, I don't think Citifield is a retropark either. Then again, I'm not quite sure what makes a ballpark a retropark. But green is just a color. And Citifield has a giant screen overlooking a food court beyond centerfield with all sorts of unusual (for a ballpark) food stands. That doesn't seem retro to me.
