Scott Kazmir Brings the Heat (YouTubage)

The Rays are not just a machine powered by cheap, young talent on the field… this promo suggests their marketing department is chock full o’ interns.

Also, points for me for not making any number of juvenile jokes at the content and imagery in this ad.

Hat tip to With Leather

Scott Kazmir is the anti-Christ. Victor Zambrano is our only hope.

If Zambrano was in this ad... he'd have caused the grill to rust immediately, the hot dogs to spoil, the girls to come down with botulism and provided them all with salmonella-laced tomatoes.

Feel, feel, feel, feel... feel my heat.

never mind a new stadium, I think they need public financing to get some production values.

I was uncomfortable watching that...so very bad.

It looked like he was pitching in the park down my street

Didn't they have any game footage they could use?

So I was wondering -- just how do Mets fans feel about the fact that they could have had Kazmir on their team, but he was apparently traded for some guy named Zambrano. Has that caused any bad feelings?

Wrong. In the Zambrano version, an elderly woman sits forlornly in a wheelchair. Victor Zambrano comes over and touches her, giving her the ability to walk.

We got 14 innings of 3.86 ERA pitching from Zambrano in 2004. I'd take that over having the best young pitcher in the game four years later every time. Every time.

And to think...the Mets hired Dirk Morgna Inc to burn down Shea Stadium when they could have just kept Kazmir for the job.

"We were all set for a great tailgate"
"And she forgot the matches"
"No You did"
"Ladies, ladies, I got a big hot dog for both of you"

If Zambrano was in this ad...

Nah, he just would have trouble with his control and lit the girls on fire.

If that's not the archetypal porn set-up, I don't know what is. And not for nothing, but the site of a girl in a Rays' jersey is not un-awesome.

There are no women involved, but the CC Speed Machine commercial is just about as bad, in its own, bad way.
   15. AJM Posted: June 13, 2008 at 06:03 PM (#2818947)
That was hilarious, in an awful sort of way.

"Ladies, ladies, I got a big hot dog for both of you"

Exactly what I was thinking, too.

So Wagner is prepping it by dousing the stadium in gasoline?

Do they award Clios for Best Bad Ad?

hahahahahaha Did anyone else hear the guy sneak in "I feel the power!" toward the end of the video?
   20. John S Posted: June 13, 2008 at 07:39 PM (#2819037)
I like it.
   21. Walt Davis Posted: June 13, 2008 at 08:28 PM (#2819117)
the next Roger Clemens?
   22. H_Vaughn08 Posted: June 13, 2008 at 09:00 PM (#2819164)
A good concept rendered with a remarkably poor sense of craft.

That crappy commercial was worth it, if only for the Zambrano jokes on this thread that have me laughing my ass off.

[#### you.] Er, no, not at all. Why do you ask?

I thought it was kind of cute, and it would be an appropriate spot...for a college or Class A team.

Those new Rays jerseys looks good too, especially on teh ladies.
