Baseball Primer Newsblog— The Best News Links from the Baseball Newsstand

So the team carries the piano on their back in the form of manager Ned Yost, and the baseball gods decide to snip one Achilles just for kicks. Not wholly unexpected. Frankly, it’s surprising that the Brewers got the production they did out of Ben this season. As I have written elsewhere, he is the modern day Spud Chandler. Very good when healthy. Just rarely healthy.
Atlanta - The Brewers received bad news today when an MRI revealed that right-hander Ben Sheets has a slight strain of the left hamstring.
The Brewers held off scratching Sheets from his scheduled start Sunday against Atlanta but it is unlikely he will make that start. And, with only a week remaining in the season after that, Sheets might not pitch again, which would be a severe blow to the Brewers’ chances of overtaking the Cubs and winning the NL Central.
