Apparently, someone has never heard of Operation Shutdown.
Taking a slightly more global view of things, on this date last year the Mets were 78-60. Now, they are 79-61. They've been on a great run recently to get there, of course.
Then came the collapse.
This year, this weekend will be huge. Win big this weekend and that will show that this team is not the same as last year. Lose big this weekend (my god if we get swept), and the story about last year takes front and center position.
What changed the Mets from a mediocre team to a good one? Easy, nothing. They were never a mediocre team to begin with.
