First Al, now Jose. What headlines will Anthony appear in?
New York Mets shortstop Jose Reyes left Friday’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers after five innings with tightness in his left hamstring.
Reyes went 0-for-3 before being replaced by Damion Easley at the start of the sixth. Reyes has struggled to start the season, hitting just .195 (8-for-41) with six RBI and one stolen base in nine games.

It's getting to the point where every problem and misfortune that Reyes suffers has become Randolph's fault. Reyes can't hit in the second half; it's Randolph's fault. Reyes doesn't steal bases anymore; it's Willie's fault. Now Reyes suffers an injury, for which I haven't yet heard a specific cause, but already it's Randolph's fault.
It's kind of funny hearing this now, considering how Reyes was such a Sabermetric whipping boy at the start of his career for showing all of the plate discipline of Denny McLain at a country picnic.
And I like Reyes as a player. I just get tired of all the tortured alibis and justifications that the Randolph haters have decided to rely on in making Reyes a martyr.
Seriously, it's been years since Reyes last had any serious trouble with his hamstrings, and his games played the last three years is 161-153-160. He'll need to take a day or three off and then I expect he'll be fine. I guess it's not too late for him to go all Griffey on us yet, though...
Even I have to agree with Bruce that you can't blame Randolph for this. But then again, I think it was pretty obvious Justin was kidding, too.
Of course, that doesn't mean you can't blame Randolph for squashing the joy and fun that Reyes injected into the game. Because that IS his fault.
While we may make fun of Reyes' hustle from time to time, if a slow grounder on the left side of the infield might yield a hit, I would expect him to run as fast as he can in order to beat it out.
I think more highly of Figueroa than Sam. Something in my Williegut tells me that he's going to be more than decent. Where was he last year when we needed him?
Mexico. Taiwan. Dominican Republic. Can't blame the Mets for not finding him.
Hope you're right. I didn't see him pitch last night, so I won't just assume it was a case of unfamiliarity and that he'll have a bad case of second-time-around-the-league blues. But I'll still hope that Pedro and El Duque manage to get themselves healthy fast and we don't find ourselves needing Figueroa too long or too much.
Not convinced by Figueroa yet, especially not in this kind of condition where the pitcher was bound to look better than he was. Even Alay Soler had some very promising starts.
