SportTicker: Rodriguez ties Mantle on all-time homer list

The New York Yankees’ Alex Rodriguez hit his 536th career home run in the second inning of Sunday’s game against the Boston Red Sox.

Rodriguez’s solo blast - his 18th of the season - came off a knuckleball from Red Sox righthander Tim Wakefield and tied legendary Yankees slugger Mickey Mantle for 13th on the all-time home run list.

The homer leaves the 32-year-old Rodriguez 12 behind Mike Schmidt, who stands in 12th place with 548.

If he hits four more he'll have more homers through age 32 than anyone in history has ever had through age 34.
