The Chicago White Sox on Saturday placed righthander Scott Linebrink on the 15-day disabled list with inflammation in his right shoulder. The move is retroactive to July 23.
Linebrink, 31, is 2-2 with a 2.31 ERA this season but has allowed a run in four of his last five outings. The burly righthander has struck out 33 batters in 39 innings.
To take Linebrink’s spot on the roster, the White Sox recalled righthander Ehren Wassermann from Class AAA Charlotte. The 27-year-old is 1-0 with a 1.67 ERA in 24 games with Charlotte this season… He compiled a 14.85 ERA in 11 appearances with the White Sox from April 27-June 3.
