STL Today: O’Neill: Visiting Mets still have the aroma of Pond Scum

But some major triploid grass carping by O’Neill will clean it up pronto!

Those days are gone, a byproduct of realignment that has the Mets in the East and the Cardinals in the Central. But it’s still easy to work up a dislike for anyone and anything that comes from the self-absorbed Big Apple. So for you fans who need motivation, here are some current reasons to dislike the visiting Metropolitans.

...The Curse of Keith: The Cardinals have not won a World Series since 1982, or since they traded Keith Hernandez to the Mets in the 1983 season. If you scramble the names of the people involved in the trade - Rick Wayne Ownbey, Neil Patrick Allen and Keith Hernandez, you can spell “Won’t Win Any,” or “Won’t Catch Any Break.”

You can also spell “Draw Another Beer.” - not sure about the significance of that.

Thanks to Can’t Stop the Bleeding.

So I guess that effort to change the tone of the site lasted about eight hours.

Anyway, far too light-hearted an article for my tastes. The Mets are worthy of genuine hatred.

Actually, you spell "won't win any rick e bey nel parick alle keith hernandez" or "won't catch any break i wney Neil Prik lle Keih ernandez". Which makes a worse point. I think.

What a lame article. So I'm not supposed to like a player because our hitters couldn't hit him, or because our pitchers couldn't get him out?

I'm going to start hating the Cardinals because of the lame sports colunists in st Louis.

Brian Bannister started today in Norfolk (game just started) and left after two batters. Not a good sign.

It's time to get Soler and/or Pelfrey up.
