Taiwan’s Prelim Roster, a “Asian Power Rankings” and more are in today’s WBC news

Taiwan, aiming at advancing to the top eight in the 2009 World Baseball Classic, on Monday announced the preliminary selection of players for the tournament. The Chinese-Taipei Professional Baseball League announced the names of 48 players, including 11 who are playing for US teams and six playing for Japanese teams.

That’s from the main link for this edition of WBC news, so click above to see the whole article.

Joe Nixon over at Bleacher Report has a Asian Baseball Power Ranking: Not surprisingly, the 4 WBC contestant countries are the top 4. The highest non-WBC country in Asia is, apparently, Thailand. See you in 2013!

Finally, some news on Corey Koskie, recovering from that nasty concussion a few years ago, who is hoping to work out with the Twins at Spring Training this spring and maybe play for Canada. Hit his name for the article.

Koskie could not watch much TV without getting sick.
I have nothing to add to this.

Hard to get excited over news that says Taiwan announces the names, but doesn't include... the names. Only news here is that the Yankees aren't letting Wang play, but that ain't news.
