Baldelli was activated from the 60-day disabled list today and will start today’s game in right field. He replaces Carl Crawford, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right middle finger tendon subluxation—an injury suffered on a checked swing in his final at-bat last night. The injury is at the base of his middle finger, at the joint that connects it to the hand.
No other injury has done anything to slow down the team so far this season, I don’t expect this will either.

Batting average way down, doubles non-existent, OPS+ of 93. Still great on the bases, but... not a great loss for Tampa, assuming Baldelli can fill the void.
OK, after reading the article, Crawford may miss more time than that, but still, if Baldelli plays it may not be a huge loss, but that's not a given.
jim is right - the only place rays will miss crawford is defensively. hinske is brutal in LF.
I suspect they'll be able to DH him one of the games, but he probably can't play full days in the field two days in a row yet.
And Kazmir hasn't pitched through the fifth in his last two starts, and hasn't gotten into the sixth in three.
Wheels. Coming. Off. Maybe?
Wheels coming off would imply that they aren't still winning, which hasn't happened yet.
If Coop had said, "Wheels. About. To. Come. Off" that might be debatable. But it's hard to see using the present tense when the Rays keep building their lead. Especially since they won the first three games in Longoria's absence.
Hopefully not, and it's starting to get a bit late for a collapse anyway, as they're 6 games up on a playoff spot with the second-best record in the league.
Anyway, they can't collapse: when I was in Vegas in March I put $100 on them to win the World Series, at 250-1 odds.
I nearly put $200 on them -- had the other $100 in my hand but sanity prevailed. Still kicking myself for that moment of sanity. But it'll be a fun World Series if they make it.
Also, I agree with you about it getting a little late for a collapse. In order for them to miss the playoffs, they need to tank AND have two of Minnesota, Boston, and New York go nuts. I can't really see it happening, unless they start channelling the spirit of the 90s Angels.
New personal record. That (mine) was the most wishy-washy comment I have ever been called to the carpet on. Maybe.
