Ha!
I really hope that BBRef doesn't change it's clean/quick page design.
Pictures and uniforms would be nice, but not if slows down or clutters the pages too much.
Catcher SBA/CS numbers...
They could put in pictures and uniforms, but in a separate environment. Don't put them on the player pages; make a separate team page with the pictures and the uniforms, linked from the main team page.
Or they could just not put them in at all. I'd be more interested in the minor-league stats. Heck, I'd rather have umpire pages than pictures and uniforms.
i thought he was a, uh, computer guy
seeing as how i just got a copy of the houston firefighters calendar emailed to me i am now thinking about furtado in a whole, uh, different way i didn't even think was possible
EDIT: Re: Baserunners
-batting leaderboards by position
-fielding leaderboards...uh, by position too
-the aforementioned SB/CS/PKoff for C and P
-minor league stats going way back for player, teams, leagues (minor league PFs would be awesome but probably not possible)
i thought he was a, uh, computer guy
I believe Jim runs the computer system for the fire dept. in which he works.
the houston firefighters calendar
What he does outside of his get-out gear (fireman lingo...thanks pop!) is beyond me.
well, lets just say the houston firefighters look like they were, uh, getting out of their gear you know what i'm sayin
(neutralized comps, minor league stats going..., steals stuff,...)
Something I'd like to see is pitchers' batting average against & oba against (along with maybe a homer rate stat).
And compared to league / park average, like is done for hitters.
Well, and the DRA historical defensive measure, someday.
Dateline: Houston
A local woman was reprimanded today for calling the fire department three separate times for minor issues. In the last call, she requested "Send the hot ones."
Some years ago I was involved in a few bar fights; I now try to avoid them. If Sean and I were ever involved in a bar fight by happenstance, I'm sure we would be on the same side.
I once was a dashing figure in my bunker gear; I'm now better described as a plodding figure in dress slacks.
There is nothing like the flexibility of a firefighters schedule. Just about all firefighters have a side job. Although most work in the trades, I work with quite a few lawyers, accountants, web designers, insurance salesmen, insurance adjusters, graphic designers, and a bunch of other occupations. The percentage of firefighters with bachelor and post-graduate degrees (mostly liberal arts, including quite a few English and philosophy majors) grows every day. Most of the non-tradesman have relatives (fathers, uncles, etc.) who were firefighters or policeman. (My father was a police officer for twenty-three years and my brother is a police lieutenant with over twenty years on the job.) The lure of public service, the camaraderie of my fellow firefighters, and the thrill of running into burning buildings are very appealing aspects of the job. For the last one-and-a-half years, however, the only fires I've put out have been in my gas grill. That's because most of my time at work is spent at fire headquarters working as the department's I.T. manager.
