Times Online: Steigerwald: Bonds isn’t a good guy

Bonds should have his hoes taken away!

Not long after they died, Peter Diana, a photographer for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, got together with a group of people who knew Lang and Scott and decided to raise money for their families.

They figured it would be easy to get Pirates players and visiting players to autograph memorabilia and raise money by auctioning the items. All the players who were asked to cooperate did so without hesitation.

Except one.

When Diana approached Bonds, who had known both Lang and Scott, and told him about the auction and asked him to sign a few items, he said, “I don’t sign for nobody.”

That’s why Diana is quoted on the inside cover of the book, “Love Me Hate Me: Barry Bonds And The Making Of An Anti-Hero.” Diana’s quote: “Personally, I hope he (Bonds) dies.”

Thanks to deft infield sprinkling of Can’t Stop the Bleeding.

No better what to prove how good a guy you are than wishing someone else dead, even if the guy who wish dead is a prick....

Here's an idea: Why not demonstrate to Bonds how classy people act?

Assuming this story is true, I'm reminded of a saying: Never argue with an idiot, they'll drag you down to their level then beat you with experience. Along the same lines--Don't be nasty to a jerk, they'll drag you to their level and make you worse after being around him.

If you really want to 'get back' at Bonds, demonstrate that having association with a disagreeable butthole hasn't rubbed off on you.

It lets him know that he has no impact/effect on the lives of others. It makes him irrelevant. When he can no longer hit a baseball he'll be a wealthy man who has to live with himself since nobody else will.

How many people think about Albert Belle when he hasn't broken the law?

Exactly.

Just remember the old Irish proverb: 'If you want to know what God natural selection thinks about money, just look at the people he it lets have it.'*

Or consider the older saying of the Buddha: "If a person does not follow the Eightfold Path, one lives one's life like a preoccupied child playing with toys in a house that is burning to the ground"

I think I like Buddha's take better.

But his head is so big.

I don't think that Diana was trying to prove how good a person she is when she made that quote.

Times Online: Steigerwald: Bonds isn’t a good guy

Part of a series:

Fire isn't cold
Smoking isn't good for you
Nickelback isn't a good band

An idiot wouldn't have to drag Steigerwald down to get to his level, and a jerk wouldn't have to do any "dragging" either.

Steigerwald has had it in for Bonds long, long before this incident happened.

In fact Steigerwald pretty much has it in for everyone. I've commented to people before that I can't understand why someone who hates sports and the people who play them so much apparently still wants to be a sportscaster. I guess it beats getting a real job.

Nobody white, that is. I believe Ron Kittle covered this point previously.

He signed for David Wells.

Wells is part Irish.

If a person does not follow the Eightfold Path...
Now I understand what Yogi Berra was talking about when he said "When you come to the fork in the road, take it". It was a Zen thing. He was probably Yoga Berra in a former life and the title got anglicized.

“I don’t sign for nobody.”

A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds.
