Why is Bucky Dent in my Mailbox?

So I opened my mail last night … and there he was.

Bucky Dent.

Well, at least a three and a half inch cardboard facsimile of him in near-Mint condition.

Someone is anonymously sending baseball cards to baseball bloggers and writers ... including David Pinto, Will Carroll and Craig Calcaterra

Mystery was solved yesterday: It's the publisher of Josh Wilker's upcoming Cardboard Gods book, doing a little early viral marketing.

GGC sent me a Lou Piniella card when my apartment burned down. Still have it, too.

Wilker is a good writer, but I always feel a little depressed after visiting Cardboard Gods.

Seems like a nice move, and probably much wiser than sending you a Bobby Richardson card.

The series with Richie Hebner as tour guide to the dead was masterful.

Most Richardson cards never had a first run.

A disgruntled Sox fan still smarting over 1978?

Crazed downsized baseball beat writer (played by Wallace Shawn) announces his presence on the road to vengeance against the bloggers that led to his irrelevancy. He sends cards of players to each that somehow foreshadow the manner in which he later kills them, one by one. Alyssa Milano is the young Dodger-loving police psychic who is partnered awkwardly with the grumpy, troubled, Met-fan detective (played by Richard Lewis).
