Will it be glitz or grit in World Series?

From one of the great names in sports journalism, Anthony Andro.

The teams in the league championship series have been raised in different ways.

The silver-spoon teams — the Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers — are competing against two gritty franchises, Tampa Bay and Philadelphia, in the league championship series.

That is dry, dry humor, sptaylor. TFA hits every cliche in the book.

Has the writer not seen Kevin Youkilis's facial hair? That alone makes the Red Sox a gritty team.

Can I call BS on every series preview I read that lists the Phillies home run proficiency as a negative? Do "manufactured" runs count more in the postseason? Rollins and Victorino each hit key HRs in the NLDS. Would it be better if they had concentrated on infield singles and sacrifice bunts? Would that have made them grittier?

TBS is going to get the series it wants. As great a story as Tampa Bay’s worst-to-first rise would be, Boston’s experience nullifies Tampa Bay’s home field.

Great...except FOX is broadcasting the World Series.

Andro doesn't like HR's because he's pumped up on McGwire
