WSBGM’s would like to establish Campaign Cheer to be unleashed upon Citizens Bank Park Tuesday August 19th at 7:05 pm. What we propose is a blind positivity so strong that it reverberates throughout the stadium from the time the Phillies take the field for the first pitch, until the last player walks off into the clubhouse. Everything must be cheered.
Blogs Crashburn Alley and Hugging Harold Reynolds are proud supporters of Campaign Cheer and fliers will be handed out and signs will be made for Tuesday’s game.

Yeah. Mom is complicated, but she keeps a sweet basement.
This is (unintentionally?) meta in levels that would make Dave Eggers proud.
Yankees fans wear fake mustaches for Jason Giambi -- how is that any less stupid than snarkily cheering every Phillies event?
People who think this idea is stupid or unfunny need to lighten up a bit.
The goal is not "success" in anything. It's just a gimmick. None of us are looking for blog hits (though they are on the fliers), none of us are looking to irk Jimmy (I would put money on Rollins laughing about it), and none of us are looking to make a statement.
It wasn't an organized thing, but the opposite happened way back in the day with the San Jose Sharks. The coach, Al Sims (terrible, btw), blamed the fans partially for the team's bad play because they didn't boo enough. Anybody who read the newspaper (which people still did back then) took his advice after that. He didn't last much longer. Fired less than a season into his reign, I believe.
I must say that I agreed with his assessment however. One of the worst things about going to games in San Jose is the crowd cheering wildly when the team almost scores but ##### it up, like a shot on goal is some kind of accomplishment.
