Poor Pirates. First they get suckered into taking Craig Hansen, then they put Alvarez on restricted list, and now this.
How is "Cubs sweep Pirates," or, for that matter, anyone sweeps Pirates, news?
The newsworthiness is in the blurb at top - the Cubs haven't been this high above the water since 1945. When something happens that hasn't occurred in 63 years, I find it newsworthy. For comparison, I didn't bother to link to the Cubs' I went with "Cubs Sweep Pirates" as the headline because that's the headline of the story I linked to. Looking it up, the Cubs had nine previous sweeps this year, and I didn't submit any of those as a link.
I noted that they haven't been more than 32 games over .500 in so long a few weeks ago and have been waiting patiently for them to exceeed the 32-game mark just for this post.
Sorry for any confusion, but I find the factoid listed at the top extremely newsworthy.

Sure. Did you follow the link in #14? Every Brewers story (that I posted or not) is listed there. Take a look.
I either post a thread after "almost every Brewers [g]ame", as accused, or I don't (only streaks, important series like MIL/CHC or MIL/STL, or something otherwise interesting or noteworthy) :P
this is where it gets intresting for the cubs. 26 of 29 against teams with winning records. this will give us the best measure of how they will do in the playoffs. espically this series against philly with the top 4 starters pitching. pedal to the metal

Nah. Hitler hadn't been 33 games over .500 since before Stalingrad.
I don't know enough about the context of any to take a stab at it.
I think there should instead be an article posted every time the Pirates avoid a sweep.
This is also my take......
1945.
Take a look for yourselves.
Bah.
