Yankee great Bobby Murcer skeptical of Mitchell Report

‘whew’, late night...I read that as “Yankee great Murcer skeptical of Bobby Mitchell Report”.

“It’s hard for me to grasp all of this that’s being accused and being thrown out there,” Murcer said. “It’s hard to come up with something logical to say other than this is a big implication as far as baseball is concerned.

“But they haven’t proved anything on anybody, and I can’t hardly comment on allegations. I’m an assumption guy, especially when they’re talking about serious things like they’re talking about.”

..."Roger or Andy, either one, have never been accused of taking illegal drugs,” Murcer said. “I mean, they never tested positive for any of that.  “It’s all going on a guy who was their trainer, whose testimony has proved them guilty. I think I have to have a little bit more than that.”

..."With all the testing that’s going on today, and Andy and Roger never testing positive for anything, I can’t assume somebody’s guilty based on the testimony of a disgruntled trainer."”

I first read the above as "this is a big impaction", which, ouch.

"Roger...[has] never been accused of taking illegal drugs,” Murcer said.

Hahahahahaha.

Thank for the link, Voxter. Without it, I would have only thought of wisdom teeth.

Yeah, Bobby. Those photocopied checks are just a figment of your imagination.

c'mon--those checks were just Christmas bonuses for being such a good clubhouse boy

I hate to say it, actually, I don't care about saying since I've long held that I don't care about this issue, but...

This is it?

The word of two guys pinched by the Feds and Larry Bigbie? Seriously?

For 20 months and Lord knows how much cash was spent flying Mitchell around and such, I expected a little more research than you know, glomming on to a pair of Federal investigations, reading Game of Shadows and going home to Google "steroids" AND "baseball" AND "HGH" AND "(insert player here)."

I was going to post elsewhere that at this point regarding the fake list anyone who still believes the fake list is doing so because there's a name on there of someone who they really really want to believe was using, but that the Mitchell Report doesn't name. At the same time we apparently have some people who don't want to believe the Mitchell Report because it names (and provides details on) players that they really really want to believe weren't using.

Remind me again, is denial the first stage of grieving?

jmac...I have about a dozen of these from when I collected football cards for a 3-4 year span. Stored the huge box away and forgot about them for 25 years.

Once the AFL got swallowed up...I gave up on football and their cards.

Umm, Bobby? There wasn't any testing until 2002...
