Yankees Say Bowa Can Pursue Seattle Job (RR)

As Schmedley Horvath, head of the prestigious Bowa Gotta Gowa! movement...slowly stirs.

“My first choice is to stay with the Yankees, but you learn in this game that there’s a process they have to go through,” Bowa said. “I think Seattle has a team with a chance to win.”

Bowa would be the Mariners’ third-base coach, a position he had in 2000, when the current Mariners manager, John McLaren, was the bench coach.

I almost started crying for a second there. Larry Bowa is sort of like Lou Piniella without the dangerous genius. Exactly the kind of guy the Mariners would hire out of pure nostalgia, in other words.

You have to think that Larry is McLaren insurance. Where's Barry Lowa when you need him?

if seattle has a chance to win, they would risk it all by hiring bowa.

McLaren was an awful manager the last month of the season. Maybe he does better with a 25 man roster.
