Zambrano pushed back to Wednesday

Maybe I’m a pollyanna, but I think this could benefit Z down the stretch.  After his DL stint in June, where he was rested for 2 starts, he was brilliant for a month.

Now whether this is a sign of something long-term, well...I’m not gonna worry about it now.  Keep him strong for September and October.

This is very smart, IMO. No need to risk anything. The story also mentions Harden is getting pushed back as well, which is also just fine by me.

Seems like a good idea. Maybe this is also being done with the playoff rotation in mind, rather than have to move things around later.

I have no problem with this. The Cubs are at the worst looking at a split with Philly and ultimately, this series isn't going to determine their playoff chances.

sounds reasonable. . . . . 'course I'm one of 'em that thought it sounded reasonable to yank him early in Game 1 so he'd be fully rested for Game 4 . . . .

If it was my team I would give him the Howard Ehmke treatment and send him on a scouting mission.

To Fiji.....

No, but it could determine OURS!

The Cubs couldn't have started this little vacation for Z after his start against the team that's a game behind the Mets in the standings???

Oh, no.

All I've got to say is we better not see Zambrano when the Mets play the Cubs in the next-to-last series of the year. Or anybody else who matters. Clinch the damn division, will you, long before you come to Shea?
