Performances have not been allocated to predicted playing time in the majors -
many of the players listed above are unlikely to play in the majors at all in 2006.
ZiPS is projecting equivalent production - a .240 ZiPS projection may end up
being .280 in AAA or .300 in AA, for example. Whether or not a player will play
is one of many non-statistical factors one has to take into account when predicting

The Shelton, Granderson, and Verlander projections are heartening. Bonderman, Ledezma, and Zumaya not so much. Thanks, Dan.

Oh, and based on those projections, who wants to lay money on 'Cubs - sign RF Bobby Higginson to two-year deal'?

What's Bonderman's health prognosis? He was having an excellent year before breaking down.

Man, that Shelton rule 5 pickup is making the Pirates look even dumber than ever, if that's possible.

Bonderman should be OK. He broke down before breaking down last year, if you know what I mean.

Zumaya's projection looks on point to me. His control problems still would prevent him from being good in the majors (unless he improves it this year). His value as a prospect is in his strikeouts (which ZIPS projects to stay very high) and his age (which ZIPS projects not to change).

Fernando Vina is still alive?
   7. Russ Posted: November 06, 2005 at 07:16 PM (#1721023)
The best part of the Shelton story will be when the Pirates, in their annual Drive for 75, will decide that Brad Eldred strikes out too much to start in the major leagues and that Craig Wilson can't play against right-handers, so they'll sign some godawful piece of crap veteran to fill a hole that they've been trying to fill since Kevin Goddam Young. I'm thinking someone like Scott Spiezio.

Yes, Kevin Young was the *good* firstbaseman that I can remember.

Every time I see Shelton's stats, I cry a little.

BTW, I hope Shelton CRUSHES the ball the first half of the season, so we can all see him at the ASG at PNC next year. Justice, sweet justice.

Tigers ZIPS hijacked by the Pirates?

I guess that makes a certain amount of sense...

Fernando Vina is still alive?

He was technically on the DL all last season, but he's done.

Tigers ZIPS hijacked by the Pirates?

I know! We get one thread a month and we have Pirates fans hijacking it! The humanity!

If Verlander did that, I'd be very, very, very happy.

"Every time I see Shelton's stats, I cry a little."

Every time I see Shelton's name, blood shoots out of my eyeballs.

That's funny, every time I see Shelton's name, I get happy.

Has anyone else seen rumors about Sean Douglass signing with the Carp next year?
   17. Buddha Posted: November 18, 2005 at 12:57 PM (#1737185)
I thought Douglass signed with Cleveland?

I thought fish couldn't survive in the Cuyahoga River.
