Is it possible that they made this trade for the sole purpose of pretty much putting one on a tee for Dan? If so, excellent. In any case, great job Dan.

8 home runs allowed seems kind of low for Wolf in that ballpark. Heck, he's just the kind of pitcher that the Brewers are built to take deep multiple times a game.

Well, you have to remember he might see some time in more pitcher-friendly parks like the Great American or Citizens Bank, or perhaps even a little league field or 10.

I'm really curious to see Reineke's ZiPS projection for this year. Is he really any worse than Randy Wolf?

I think it's kinda cute that the Astros actually think they're contending enough to trade for Randy Wolf.

This move is truthfully to show themselves "doing something" to stop the hemorraging, and more of a move to contend with the other bottom dwellers in the Central (which the Astros clearly have shown they CAN'T by getting raked by the Pirates). All talk of "improving their playoff chances" is nothing more than crackpipe gossip -- just like 'watercooler gossip' -- which can be a lot less intoxicating and addictive.

Baseball America's Trade Central headline on this trade is pretty great..
