I am not understanding the nickname for Schoeneweis up there.

I'm also tired of these Mets with impossible to spell names leaving town as soon as I learn how to spell them.

It's the literal German translation of his last name. Schön = pretty; weiss = white.

c'mon now, Kazmir wasn't that hard to spell. :-)

Also, you'd prefer the old days when they got rid of guys with easy names like Seaver? :-)

Mike Myers in his career had 1255 PA against LHH, 1130 against RHH. Is it reasonable to expect a better percentage from Schoeneweis?

I guess many of those PA against RHH came when the game was already out of hand and the team just needed someone to eat innings. Really what we want is to weight each PA by leverage.

That o with two dots above it is way hard to pronounce.

You said splits, so I had to go check them. Some are illuminating, some are weird coincidences. OPS Against in each scenario.

Overall: 751

Vs. Left: 520
Vs. Right: 955

Home: 642
Away: 849

First Half: 679
Second Half: 873

First Batter Faced: 646 (the important # for a LOOGY)

To Schneider: 635
To Castro: 1053 (!!!)

Pitching to a lefty, who was the first batter, at home, before the all star break, with Schneider behind the dish--- it appears that the hitter has zero % chance of success.

"That o with two dots above it is way hard to pronounce."

round your lips like you want to say "oh", but say a short "e" instead (like in "bet"), keeping your lips rounded.

it's the same with the French "u" - round your lips and say a short u.
