Garland is 2-0 so far. If he gets to 5-0, I'm posting it right here.

Garland in September (faced the offensively awful Dbacks twice):
3 GS, 19 IP, 13 K, 7 BB, 3 HR, 3.32 ERA, 2 W, 0 L

Buckner (Garland's replacement, faced the Dodgers twice):
3 GS, 19 IP, 16 K, 5 BB, 1 HR, 2.84 ERA, 0 W, 1 L

Clearly the Dbacks traded away a winner
And Euthanasio Abreu is still a Dodger...

Not that it matters much, but the PTBNL list is probably Abreu, Stults, Leach, Wade, and Schlichting.

That's a lot of dudes to be named later.

Also, every time I hear about Stults, I think, The Muppet from "Pulp Fiction"?

In other news, Eric Stoltz was originally cast to play Marty McFly. Disaster narrowly averted.

The way he's been pitching lately, won't be shocked to see Billingsley on that list soon

Only if the D'backs agree to trade Upton and Haren for Billingsley and agree to pay all of their contracts.

Well, Josh Byrnes gave up Garland plus cash for "Bib the Michelin Man" to be named later, so this is plausible.

At least I didn't say I'd eat my hat or something.

Wasn't it Neyer who offered to eat his hat if the Mets won 90 games a few years back, and then had to weasel out of it with some BS about pythagorean records because nobody can actually eat a hat?
   10. The Kids Are Enright (1k5v3L) Posted: September 17, 2009 at 04:01 AM (#3324398)
Weaseling out of things is what makes humans different from animals... except for the weasel.

Byrnes hasn't exactly lived up to expectations, has he.

He could have managed to choke down a straw hat.

I doubt Neyer's hat could be any less edible than Werner Herzog's shoe.

I read that at Whitey Herzog's shoe, and was deeply confused by the idea that Whitey would have a bet about whether or not the movie Gates of Heaven would be completed.

Well, he's no Omar Minaya, that's for sure.

The Eric Byrnes extension was the watershed moment in Josh Byrnes's career: until that day, things worked well (I mean, Shawn Green to the Mets? Please, I'll have two of those!); after that day, everything he did turned to crap - including the Dan Haren trade which, as good as Haren has been, is turning out to be a complete disaster. The worst part of the whole situation here, if you are a Dbacks fan, is that I don't think Josh Byrnes really has a plan right now. Or if he does have a plan, it seems to be along the lines of "let's try to luck into another 90 wins season, like we did back in 2007". Hope is not a winning strategy.

Omar has pretty much lived up to expectations.
   18. The Kids Are Enright (1k5v3L) Posted: September 20, 2009 at 02:50 AM (#3327005)
Well, Omar has certainly lived down to my expectations. And give the man credit, he'd hit rock bottom but keeps digging.

Apparently, you can eat a hat. Part of it, anyway. And with lots of ketchup.
   20. God Posted: September 20, 2009 at 07:57 AM (#3327066)
Babe Ruth I think was said to have eaten a hat for some reason. They used to be made of straw, so I don't see why you couldn't eat that.

Garland finally lost a game where he gave up 3 unearned runs. So he won't go 5-0.
   22. Bitter Calculus Instructor Posted: September 26, 2009 at 08:10 PM (#3333515)
Tripon beat me to it. Garland is now 3-1.

Garland finishes 3-2, and might not make the post season roster. Its a eh move. Hope the D'backs like Abreu.
