Both Paul and Pierre have plus speed and plus corner defense, so you can't just mulligan Juan the gap there, either.
Well, that'll be the question. Left to his own devices, Pierre will probably run more than Paul, so if he can pick his spots well (i.e. 2008, not 2004), he'll have more opportunity to make up ground with his legs. And playing in LF helps disguise the weakness of his arm, which is one of Paul's edges in the field.
That being said, Pierre shouldn't be that bad. Obviously, not in the same zip code as Manny as a hitter, but better on the basepaths and better in the field. And since Manny was being rested about once a week (at least weeks without offdays) Manny would have missed some time anyway. Not a good thing, but I'd expect the Dodgers to more than tread water while he's gone.
He's also getting the ball in the air more - career-low GB/FB of 1.54.
