Barring injury, the Giants don't have the need--or the room-for either Wellemeyer or Willis in their rotation. At this point, I'd say that Bumgarner's place in the rotation is more secure than Sanchez's.

Willis = LOOGY ± LHB off the bench!

No, Zen. Willis = a 28 year old possible reclamation projection who can do no harm in Fresno. If he ever figures out how to pitch like he did one miraculous year, five years ago, then great, the Giants have either another good starter or trade bait in their system. If he never can find his erstwhile form, it costs the Giants nothing to set him free. He can then take his talents to "South Beach" and watch the Miami CHeat play hoops.

"Bumgarner's place in the rotation is more secure than Sanchez's."

I doubt that. Bumgarner has not had enough starts to eclipse the Chez just yet. You realize that, even though he's had a few poor outings lately and his ERA has climbed by a run, Sanchez is currently 16th in ERA+ in the NL (among qualified pitchers) and 21st in ERA? In other words, in a 16-team league, Sanchez is pretty much the bottom end of a No. 1 starter.

Did I miss the Lee deal?
