Marlins - DFAed Jacque

Florida Marlins - Designated OF Jacque Jones for assignment.

Jones should resurface again if he becomes a free agent, given that any team that gets him pays the minimum. Reports are that he might accept a demotion, a pretty good indication that he knows just how badly he's played this season. While Jones was always a bit miscast as a full-time starter (the 0-for-15 against lefties hasn't exactly helped his 230/278/350 career mark), he can probably still contribute as a 4th outfielder that can at least fake center.

On a related note, I've been surprisingly asked a lot lately to do a podcast for the minor transactions that I don't usually cover. Is there any widespread interest for this sort of thing, before I find wherever the hell I put my microphone?

More TO? Sweet. Why a podcast rather than covering those transactions here? Not that I'm against podcasts, but are you going to read off ZiPS numbers?

I'm thinking of it as a supplement - I don't normally do entries for things like injuries and the like.

Podcast sounds like a great idea, but if this were a vote, I would say just do more TOs here. But if the choice is podcast supplement or nada, I'll take the former.

I like that more people are interested in hearing Dan Szymborski's voice than talking about the awfulness of Jacque Jones. I can't say I disagree.

I'm going to do one as an experiment. It'll no doubt be unbelievably rough, but it should be enough to tell me if it's worth doing again.

Two people would definitely be better, but to be honest, everyone I know is either not interested in baseball or an idiot.

Ron Santo too. Traded to the Sox for 4 players including Steves Stone and Swisher. His only year with the Sox his SLG was 6 points higher then his OBP, both under .300.
