Oakland A’s - Signed Brown

Oakland A's - Signed OF Emil Brown to a 1-year contract.

Unless this is a Fantasy Camp situation in which Brown is paying the A's, this is a waste of everyone's time. Brown simply can't hit well enough to have value to the A's at a position he can field. Sure, he can hit lefties some and isn't too dreadful in left, but those aren't rare traits - it's the equivalent of putting "Doesn't use computer CD-ROM as drink holder" on your resume.

So he's indeed as bad as I thought. Thanks for the confirmation.

Well, crap, I don't know what the point of this was. Maybe Billy lost a bet with Brian Sabean on a football game and the winner got to make a transaction for the loser.

As long as he's only a hitter against lefties and a 5th outfielder, I don't think its all that bad. And if he really sucks, $1.5 million isn't so much that you can't eat it and release him.

That being said, I don't like Emil Brown and I'm glad to see him off the Royals roster.

Doubt it - Sabean would think this is a good transaction. Sabean would try to do something he would think is bad, like trading Blanton for Cueto and Bailey.

Nope. Emil is only 34, way too young.

If UZR's right about him (~+14 in the corners), he'd be a nice 4th OFer. If whatever system Dan uses is right, he's useless.

So can we explain the past few years by saying Billy's been winning heavily on football bets?

Now you tell me...

Is this why I'm not getting very good leads from e-resumes?

Should I also remove "Generally emits no or neutral odors"?

What about "Documented history of understanding obscure Repoz references on BTF" -- keep or ditch?

Ditch. Nobody would believe it.
