And another ROY bites the dust.

My favorite Scott Williamson memory is watching him idle in the bullpen while that ####### idiot Grady Little blew Game 7 of the 2003 ALCS. Thanks, Grady.

My favorite Scott Williamson memory was picking him up on the waiver wires on my fantasy baseball team in 1999 and watching him as a reliever rack up strikeouts, saves, innings pitched, and not giving up runs.

Willy had been absolutely lights-out in that 2003 postseason, too. In many ways, Grady's leaving him (and Derek Lowe) sitting in the pen while running Wake out there in extras was even less defensible than the far more scrutinized non-move of failing to yank Pedro. It angries up the blood even now.

Anyhow, best of luck to Willy in his future endeavors. He'll always be remembered fondly by this Sox fan.

haha when I saw this, my first instinct was to come in and post that he should have been in there to match Rivera and THEN you bring in Wake

Dan gets literary. I did not expect that.

I checked the ROY voting for 1999, and Williamson beat out Preston Wilson and some dude named Warren Morris, a 25-year-old second baseman on the Pirates. Kris Benson came in 4th.

I didn't even know he had still been in the majors.
