If you believe in the importance of postseason stats, Alomar's a nice pickup. Maybe it's a move just for insurance, in case the jobber goes down. Or perhaps they plan to give ol' targethead some off days down the stretch.

LaMura's an organizational soldier, as Dan says. He's not a particularly hard thrower (gets into the low 90s on occasion but usually works in the upper 80s), but gets strikeouts by changing speeds effectively and working the corners. Middle relief fodder in the majors, most likely.

The big difference is that Widger is healthy and Alomar will probably have a stint on the DL before the season's over. If Widger takes an assignment to Charlotte then it's an OK move.

Am I missing something? Sandy's hit 214/247/364 in 180 playoff PA.

You're probably right. My memory might be too World Series-centric. He sure looked like Reggie Jackson out there a couple years for the Tribe.

Well he did have that homer off Rivera, but that was nine years ago. I would imagine he could stay healthy, because I don't think he'll play more than Widger, unless they make him Burly's personal catcher or something.

Szym, not to be a dick, but....

Are you going to post your thoughts in at TO on the Hillenbrand situation and trade?
I'm interested.

Hmm... I wouldn't associate the Dead with heroin. Pot, acid, shrooms for sure.

Late 70s heroin ... I think you're talking Ramones, Sex Pistols, Debbie Boone.

Can we get an Oracle about the de la Rosa/Graffanino trade? I want to complain.
